Introducing The Cranky 'Lil Buddha

This is the story of The Cranky ‘Lil Buddha from WeComeInPeace. We hope it inspires everyone who comes across it to slow down and tune in to the calls of your heart, because The Universe depends on you dreaming up those big dreams, and life's way too short not to listen.

Chapter 1

WAKING UP from under his favourite tree, laughing as if he couldn’t believe it, the Cranky ‘Lil Buddha was terrified by what he had just experienced. He had seen a world where people were forgetting how to treat each other. Some didn’t even care, some didn’t notice it happening, and people were putting themselves first all the time. This thought incense’d him and of course made the ‘lil guy cranky. Whatever happened, he thought, to the concept of ‘I’ll water you and you water me’, to become more ‘we’ and less ‘me’. ‘Whatever grows together, glows together’ he thought.

So he went off into thought to chat with The Universe who told him that Love was also kinda cranky with this beautiful new world. Now The Universe cannot have Love being cranky, because they build themself with Love. So The Universe kindly asked The Cranky ‘Lil Buddha to help solve the problem for Love, and to learn a few more lessons himself along the way. So off he went with a heart full of gold and bag full of mischievous ideas to help people slow down, laugh a lot more and to start listening to themselves again. To find that quiet lil voice inside themselves that will help them remember who Love is.

The Universe suggested he take a few things with him, so he packed his favourite incense to keep him calm (the irony), his cherished throw blankets that he designs himself for friends to keep them cozy, and his favourite cactus. “Why the cactus? asked The Universe, and he replied “because the cactus reminds me of slow sustained growth, but they grow tall over a long time, and so are the lessons. And as a reminder to always appreciate the prickly bits because there’s always a few of those”. The Universe smiled warmly at him and said “forgetting something?” then tossed him a pair of headphones.

The Universe said "People will find it weird if you wear bare feet all the time", which made him roll his eyes at them, and made him even more cranky with this weird but beautiful world. So he found some trainers that were super comfy and cool and looked great with his throw blankets (that he strangely wears). "First lesson", he thought, "When you think something isn't going to be ok, generally it is. Shoes are ok."

Chapter 2

LOOKING UP at the stars starting to fade into the dawn horizon, The Cranky ‘Lil Buddha thought to himself (a ‘lil bit stressed ) “How am I going to help Love be less cranky with this beautiful world?” He didn’t like Love hurting, or any living thing for that matter. They had recently given him a really beautiful gift that he couldn’t see at the time , so he owed them a massive favour, because y’know, the whole balancing of the karma thing , plus it’s his nature to be helpful.  But more of that story a bit down the track.

The Universe quietly chimed in “don’t stress ‘Lil Budd just trust the he’art, the dot connector, it’s always got your back...” So he took in 3 big deep belly breaths and immediately started to feel this fresh calm wash over him, as he took in the scent of a new way...

As Sunshine rose over the dawn horizon it winked at him  and said “you make me feel alive ‘Lil Budd, cuz y’know I feel you just get me” and ‘Lil Budd replied “most days I’m just reflecting back what I see in you Sunshine, I feel like you’re sitting on my shoulder all day long, unless someone makes me cranky,  so thanks friend.” “Let’s meet tomorrow again?” said Sunshine, then he gave The Cranky ‘Lil Buddha a big warm hug.

And with that ‘Lil Budd took off his headphones, finished his mushroom tea, threw off his throw blanket and went in for his morning swim ready for a day of doing what his he’art loves most, designing stuff for people. “I wonder” he thought “if designing my throw blankets can teach me how to help with That Big Cranky Love Problem...”  

The Universe said to Love quietly, “I’ve already taken a peek and given him some hints they’re a collab from us both. These new throw blankets have got this hazy cosmic vibe going on. Hope you’ll like them Love, cuz I gotta keep growing (that Universe/Love growth paradox remember? Not without the other). “I sure know one thing, the ‘Lil sh*t is trying his very best for you, and he’ll show you them in a few days”. Love’s eyes slowly grew wider and smiled back at The Universe.

An Ending

THE Cranky 'Lil Buddha got up just before The New Moon slept and put on his favourite throw blanket ready to share his he'art with Love that morning.  The rest were packed into his tote and he walked out to this beautiful cliff next to a mysterious cave he hadn't yet dared to enter. This secret place is where he settles to chat with his heart about life.

The air was salty from the hazy Summer just arriving, and the smell of the earthy morning reminded him of his fareaway home...his senses took it all in as he grounded to country. His feet softened into the earth and he thought to himself "I'm glad I left those silly shoes at home again. No one can see me out here anyway and I love the feeling of being connected to The Earth, she helps make sense of my lessons, and gives them back to The Universe so they both understand mine as well. We all grow together.

"I see you" said The Universe and had a chuckle at his silly, cranky, yet sweet ways.  

'Lil Budd rolled his eyes at The Universe and laughed, then sat down, got comfy and crossed his legs. As he closed his eyes and looked into his heart, a warm beeeze washed over his face as some flowers brushed softly across his knee.  

"Hey there Love, got this memo from The Universe that they've stopped growing recently 'cuz you've been cranky with a few things in this knotty old world, and I kinda know just how you feel sometimes. No growth, no life. The Universe depends on all of us to grow. I've made these throw blankets to remind people to find a simple daily practice to reset their system, and chat with their heart about what their bigger picture is and what they might be able to sow into The Universe to help them grow". 

The Cranky 'Lil Budda suddenly felt this strange intoxicating warmth grow in the centre of his chest like he had never ever felt.  He looked down and a golden tear drop had just fallen there. Love looked at him in the eye  and softly said "Thanks Lil 'Budd, for sharing your he'art with me and for listening to mine, that's all I could ever have asked. Don't ever forget to follow your own way..." They gave him a kiss and said 'might see you round sometime."

After a while The Cranky 'Lil Buddha slowly opened his eyes and was chuffed that Love had appreciated his throw blanket gesture, and felt a refreshed lighter energy about him. He wanted to find out if others were inspired by them too and started to wonder what else he could create to keep his universe expanding. As he took in a deep breath he could still feel that strange but beautiful warmth in his chest where Love had left her tear. 

With that, 'Lil Budd stood up, turned around to start his day and whacked his big toe right into the middle of a rock. He looked down and saw it had the rough shape of a cracked heart. Incense'd at himself for leaving his silly shoes at home, he said loudly "That really f@*king hurt, man Love can hurt sometimes.  

The Universe laughed at 'Lil Budd and his big cranky heart...again and again and again.

With his sore swollen toe, he threw on his headphones and walked off into the morning laughing loudly at himself thinking "shoes definitely have their purpose in this silly, beautiful and most wonderful world."
